The three-month period of June–August 2023 saw an average temperature of 16.8°C – 0.66°C above the 1991–2020 average, with August about 1.5°C warmer than the preindustrial average for 1850 to 1900. And it’s estimated that the world’s carbon dioxide emissions will have exceeded 40 billion tonnes in 2023.
